My path into financial planning started with my own family's experience. When my father passed away, my parents' financial situation was a shambles. Mum was already going through enough, and having their finances in disarray made everything harder.

Financial planning can have a massive impact on people's lives. Although money isn't everything, having it organised takes a huge amount of stress out of everyday life, especially when things don't go to plan.

I love the variety of work I get to do on a daily basis, dealing with clients at all stages, from people at my stage juggling kids and careers, right through to retirees. On the retirement side, it's really satisfying to be in the room seeing a client's reaction when they realise they're going to be a lot better off than they thought.

Outside office hours, I stay on my toes with a lively toddler. I joke that I'm a solar panel - I love being outside during the warmer months, camping and at the beach.

In the hot seat with Alana

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be? Why?

My dad. Obviously, lots to catch up on.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Wonderwall - everyone knows it and sings along to drown out my terrible singing!

If you could live in any city in the world for a year, where would it be and why?

Anywhere I can do a European summer because I didn't do that in my 20s - Italy, Croatia, Greece.

OR the opposite end of the scale - somewhere I can snowboard.
